New TVR still under wraps! (Vol. 2)
Discussion
TVR boss Les Edgar told Autocar that he believes there is still room for a production start date of March, dependant on whether cars can be built in TVR's neighbouring facility as work takes place on the original factory.
This has to read in context. This is what Les believed in December 2018.

I wonder what he believes now. This has to read in context. This is what Les believed in December 2018.
Maybe they're keeping their powder dry for some imminent blockbusting news. If not they'll lose more ardent fans like me who is becoming fatally cynical of the whole thing which could taint the TVR name for ever more.

Yes, fair enough. This has to read in context. This is what Les believed in December 2018.
But I think he owes an explanation to the deposit holders as to why:
a) work on the main factory hasn't even begun (remember its a 6 month long task with a promised start date of Jan '19)
b) the smaller facility has not been used to commence production as he had hoped
c) he can't be bothered with updates to explain why his hopes/promises have fallen short
Is it really too much to ask?
Updates cost nothing to put out. Even if the news isn’t ideal, having people knowing what’s going on, new targets dates etc makes the consumer feel as though they are part of the process (especially important with a small brand that has a very loyal following) and you’ll very likely have them rooting for you to succeed (see any decent Kickstarter project).
Granted they may want to keep certain informations private, but no news isn’t good news.
Not a fan of the design personally, especially the front, but I do want them to have every opportunity to succeed.

I suspect there are three main groups of people here:-
1.Deposit & Ex deposit holders
2.Interested parties
3.st stirrers
Looking at names on screen and their posts 2+2 to me says the genuine deposit holders are probably a very small (handful) of the 500 launch customers. Some probably pass by here out of interest to see what the 'word on the street' is but never comment and the majority have probably never been here! There are probably also an even smaller number of ex deposit holders who have transferred to group three and become 'st stirrers' which helps them justify their decision! Also in group one I strongly suspect there are the 'fake' deposit holders who love to voice their opinion. Interested parties either sit on the side lines or participate, and st stirrers will do just that for what ever reason turns them on....
For me as a deposit holder, I take the the most logical course of action... pickup the phone and speak to TVR!!
I have found they will do their best to answer any questions/concerns I have.... Of course there will be further updates to come and reasons why updates haven't been forthcoming...... however, based on the information I have I continue to be a deposit holder/future LE owner!!

I would argue that 1+2 are the same thing.
I would call myself an interested party being a former owner. I wouldn't buy the proposed car, it's just too fugly.
However, there are quite a few posters here that seem to think they are better than the rest and that knowledge is power.
If I could be bothered, I'd ring TVR and ask why no updates. But since this is an open forum and promotes debate, I'd rather opine here. Because I suspect TVR will trot out the corporate line of everything is fine and dandy, just a bit behind schedule. Which is increasingly looking like a bit wide of the mark, isn't it?

Tyre Smoke, anyone who joined when we did, joined a niche TVR forum for TVR owners. Which by definition makes us interested parties.
Posters who’ve never even owned a TVR commenting on our lack of reason to be interested make me laugh though.
If the thread was just for depositors it would be as lacking as the official updates.

Just it’s sad for lots of reasons. As a TVR owner with no deposit and not remotely interested in the new marque, not sure where I fit in

Interested party, like me. You like TVR, but not this one. You might get one again if it looks better. :scratchinchin:
You’re possibly allowed to comment but not get forwarded any information.

I can't really believe that anyone who has actually left a deposit has never logged on to PH, but maybe not.
There definitely was a lot of deposit holders on here a while ago. I think there was a thread or poll about who had a deposit. I’ve read people cancelling deposits but nobody saying they’ve placed one recently or got on the list due to cancellations, but it’s possible.
Not sure where I fit in either. Owned a Chimaera since 2002, and been a supporter of TVR ever since. I took part in London Thunder (giving a ride through London with one of the soon to be redundant TVR staff) to support the workers when the last iteration of TVR failed. I have spent several thousands keeping the car on the road.
I am not in a position to buy the new car, but myself (and expect many others like me) after years of flying the TVR flag wanted this venture to succeed. I expect many are feeling somewhat let down that TVR’s name has been resurrected only to be be damaged once again by bad PR and no indication that the car will ever enter production.

There is so much bks spouted here. It doesn’t matter whether you are a deposit holder or not...
Hopefully they will succeed
We all love a noisy sports car
We love tvr
But it isn’t a looker
They are well behind schedule
Comms are crap
In a void people will speculate
The world is moving on
The end
