So I'm reading the article about the AM Valkyrie running Silverstone, it really does slam home this whole TVR fiasco.

Aston Martin a huge company talking openly about it having a coolant leak a few hours before hand, that it was a big doubt if it would run.

More notably, how they have a couple of other builds being prepared for road tests and crash testing.

No secrets, no trying to hide the details of the project, warts and all.

None of which has been openly talked about with this project.

Anyway, back to my glass of whisky.....

This will hit the Griffith market right in the plums.

I like that new corvette but it makes me a bit sad. I never thought I’d see the day that a modern American generic sports car looks much better than a new TVR.

Plus it has the advantages of being much cheaper, being likely to get built, not being from a start up and it doesn’t look like a Toyota.

I suppose the fact that it’s mid engined and manual only will still mean that it isn’t an exact, direct competitor to the ToyotaVR though?

That 'Vette is lush.

That will surely kill off any hope of NewCo building anything.

Anyone with a deposit still in need their bumps felt.

The corvette will not be 60k here. Surely that’s a base model price. By the time it’s here and in a decent spec it will be 95k I guess.
Am not sure it will be a looker in the flesh.

The car they’ve unveiled is it, in the flesh, it’s not a model. It’s been driving around for a bazillion miles. It won’t change now.

I really don’t like American cars, but that is awesome inside and out.

I don’t know why any one would want the TVR over it. Griffith now has an old engine, and looks the automotive version of frank spencer.

In the flesh means physically seeing it not on a screen. I haven’t seen one physically but judging by the YouTube videos it’s pretty amazing but I would like to see one in the flesh to see if it really works or not.

Manual only?

It's not manual at all.

Possibly in the future but it's dual clutch paddle shift at present.

Sub three second 0-60 from the entry level car with performance pack. Be interesting to see what the hybrid will do with 1000bhp.

The first ever RHD Corvette. It is $60k, not pounds. Delivery cost on top in the USA depends on location of course! No mention what the Z51 performance package will cost though. But even the standard 'Stingray' will have 490 bhp! Even after import / VAT, I'd expect it to be under £90k and (whisper it) more reliable with a long warranty?

TVR really have missed the boat it seems. frown If their car had been for sale and out on the roads already, maybe they'd sell a few more. But they're being overtaking by events, including hybrids too.

60k$ in the US, thats a bargain for what's at offer.
sadly in the Netherlands I guess it starts at around 150k in euro's thats almost 3x the $ base price in the US...how to kill fun.

in the states it seems like this

Chevrolet Corvette – $ 59.995
Porsche 911 Carrera S – $ 113.300
Lotus Evora 400 – $ 94.900
Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé – $ 112.700
Nissan GT-R Pure – $ 99.990

thats corvette would be the bargain of the century I guess.

I mean who wouldn’t want this little chap instead of the Vette hehe

When you compare to the above image it just looks old.

Isn't it just. Starts at the same price as a base level Boxster in the US. I know where my money would go smile

Interesting to compare this with the Ford GT...?

No turbo V8 and lots of luggage space, and a targa. looks ok aswell, about the same size as a Ferrari 458... and when it gets supercharged?

I should think anyone would agree with that. I should think Les and any deposit holders should be worried.

Well I dropped back in here hoping to hear some news that things had been progressing with the new car, BUT, NO, Nothing.

I honestly thought last Christmas that TVR would be in the factory by now preparing to make some cars. Its nearly August and still nothing, no factory work has started, no staff recruited, no cars, no big news, no crash tested or other Griffiths built.

It is a farce now.

Obviously money is an issue and the last thing a new TVR needs is a lack of money behind it. it's a shame but looks like the dream is over.
