That's only half of it. The parts service and resotoration side should generate some money and keep some skills. As Crosseye mentions, there are ways for low volume runs, Jag managed it for the D-type twice and even Alvis are producing cars. There is also a value in keeping the marque alive, even if it's only one car per year. Wells seem to be doing OK and they started from no-where.
What skills ??? TVR had been closed 8 years .. They couldn't even work with Racing Green as a Part supplier frown

Nothing will happen until it’s sold (not for what people are posting on the previous page).

Can see Chinese being potentially interested, enough said. Sad times.

Are you sure ? The D-Type, as far as i know, was only 25 cars (100 were planned and 75 built back then) and it looks as if they were creative and somehow found a way to "finalize" the 25 old ones and got them road-legal with the initial registration-date being 1955. Which then lowers all regulatory requirements to a level valid 70 years ago !

But maybe it's IVA (individual vehicle approval), which Alvis seems to be doing. In any case, not a scaling business model.

As I understand it TVR asked too much for the license to use their name for TVR parts. So shortsightedly let it go. There's also no reason they couldn't have partnered up with a specialist and rebranded it.

Lets face it, it's been a huge failure and one none of us wanted to see.
I'd had loved to see the car around the top gear track, new models coming, interest generated in the brand and the old cars...

Unfortunately the TVR brand has attracted owners over the years, who think they can run the business. And all they ever do is run the brand/business into the ground.

The prototype (UK69TVR) is still taxed but MOT expired on 19th May.

Guess it is in a garage somewhere parked up

The name. It’s the one thing Chinese companies generally don’t have. History.

There are plenty of defunct world known names out there to chose from, that do not have the kind of debt attached to them that TVR has.

Someone would have swooped in my now, its a dead duck.

China bought MG for the name.

Be nice if TVR stayed British though.

Hopefully Les feels the same.

I'd buy a 'new' Sag / T350C / Tamora / Tuscan II.

Hell, I'd even buy a 'new' Taimar / 3000M / Vixen.

Loads of rebuilt Chims around so no need to make them 'new'.

Whatever you do, Les, ffs do something.

If I was Les I’d sell the name to a Chinese EV producer albeit I can’t see that happening. The brand has never been well known outside of the UK and there are no other assets beyond the brand name and its ‘heritage’. Surely it’s just not worth much to the likes of SAIC. They have made MG into a massive EV mid sized cheapish mainly SUV brand. What would they do with TVR. They aren’t going to sell 10’s of thousands for TVR badged EV sports cars.
And no one can make a ‘volume’ petrol engined sports car business profitable. They can’t make the old models. No one’s going to pay good money for a singer style restomod TVR.
TVR does live on though, in the old cars that many of us own.
