New TVR still under wraps! (Vol. 3)
Discussion
Mr Edgar has been busy today. He has paid off all his outstanding loans against his farm. This may well indicate that the TVR take-over by Charge Holdings is proceeding well and in line with their forecast of a spring completion.
I wonder if those deposit holders asking for their money back will be reimbursed in a timely manner.

Which deposit holders are you talking about?
I thought so far all deposit holders who asked for there deposit back have received it.
Do you have concrete information that suggests the opposite?
Do they quote the deposits held in their accounts? I thought so far all deposit holders who asked for there deposit back have received it.

There was one person who was struggling a few months ago.

Fair enough. That s one person in some 10 years, that we are aware of. There was one person who was struggling a few months ago.
Whoever left a deposit for this long must be mad or doesn t much care for the money.
The whole affair has been unfortunate but considering the name was dead other than the cars already existing long before Edgar took over I can t see why or if it makes much difference.
And whoever paid a deposit for a start up company who had no Money or real backing all long was obviously making a punt on a long shot and if any of those still have deposits left with the company probably don t need it.
If someone can prove there are people fighting for the money back then that s news. What Edgar has done with his personal finances within his own businesses is his business and I can t see how it has anything to do with anyone on here unless he owes them money.
But some people just get a bee in their bonnet and bring all this up time and time again for no reason other than to relieve boredom or because they think it s relevant when clearly it s nothing to do with them or indeed any of us on a Tvr forum that s already concluded many years ago the dream died when it was revealed they simply couldn t raise the finance to make it work.
This is very normal in the real world as every year hundreds of start up companies fail.

But it wasn't just a start up company... They made promises about parts, wrecked other companies , coerced dealerships and service centres to join their network... I think Mr Edgar has a lot to answer for....makes Nikolai Smolenski look like a saint
.
If he owned the rights to the business he can do anything he likes, you don’t have to follow. Look at Powers, they had to give up one of the most famous names in the business and didn’t agree to pay him anything. Moved on and it looks like Dom has diversified rather nicely ever since.
.I too was very upset by the bulls
t promises but that’s what business people do when trying to create interest in something they need investment for. It’s history now and let’s be honest, he tried which is more than most would have ever done after the reputation Tvr left behind.
It was a long shot all along and without some very great and rich investor, never a serious thing no matter how much we all hoped it would be.
My question is how many years needs to pass before people give up on all this hate. It’s totally pointless and achieves nothing. It’s just a form of gossip.
Whinging pommes comes to mind.
These pages were set up to help owners pass information and help eachother to understand the cars and so care for them at home mostly.
This thread is just a toxic waste of space and not particularly good for present owners who are trying all they can to keep the cars alive and who are trying to keep some sort of respect for the mark.
What Edgar did some 10 odd years ago and what he does now has little to do with anyone on here or serves any useful purpose when it comes to owning a 30 odd year old Tvr.
I’d respectfully suggest many of the Tvr centres that went to the wall was likely to happen anyway as there is simply not enough Tvr valuable enough to keep them afloat. The writing for all such cars has been on the wall for possibly two decades now and Tvr were already a past car maker when Edgar came along.
For all the negatives I can honestly say I’ve met many people who wouldn’t even know Tvr existed until it was being mentioned in the press with Edgar’s efforts so you have to say there was some positives in what he attempted to do.
I’m pretty sure he’s moved on which sounds like a good plan to me. It makes very little difference to anyone but a few disgruntled people who seem to think there is still interest in what the man does. Clearly the amount of posts on this thread over the last 5-6 years suggests no one actually cares anymore.

Other than making a load of silly promises and failing to raise the funds required who actually thought the car would come to market based on what went on. I certainly didn t.

The British Business Bank - which handed out taxpayer's money - is a law unto itself so the only way to get to the bottom of what went on would be an independent audit but I can't see that happening as the bank is solely owned by the government

Well yes but I think there were plenty of businessmen who made hey over the Covid crisis to the tune of tens of millions so shouldn t we be doing something about that. I think Les is rather small fry in comparison.
Maybe start other threads for those businesses - this is about TVR and their dodgey Covid loan. I’m amazed that they still seem to be asking for deposits. Fraudulent?
