Ok. It's that time of year when we discover that the battery is dead............again.
What have people been finding to be the best replacement?

A £20 ebay trickle charger. Served me for 5 years, then any half decent battery will be fine.

I've always gone for Optima Red Tops but as said, get a trickle charger whatever you buy(they don't like to go truly flat). The Red Top gives a better output which helps spin the engine faster.

You can get them on-line delivered - I used an on-line mega store place that worked well a couple of times - PM if you need details (no advertising!!).

I did exactly the same before the winter. after a bit of searching I went for this:

Type 078 Varta Silver Dynamic Car Battery 12V 63Ah (Short Code: D39) (Varta DIN: 563401061)

A word of warning. the poles are opposite from the previous battery I had. Wasn't a big deal as I had enough clearance on the battery connector leads anyway. The battery was marginally smaller also, which helped with fitting it. About 80 quid if i remember correctly.

Supposedly the car had a new battery from the dealership, when I bought the cerb; which was only a couple of years back. Needless to say, it didn't last and gave me a bit of grief with the alarm / immobiliser, even when on a trickle charge. A battery conditioner is essential if its sat still for anything more than a week.

The former was a snappystart battery, which I'd avoid, if that's not contravening forum rules.

I normally go for Optima or Odyssey - the largest capacity that will physically fit in the space.
& be careful to never let them go flat.
