RE: Zertec Development Car
Discussion
At the end of the day Clive has done some excellent stuff for TVRs and is be encouraged. As usual it a matter of personal taste but without him we wouldn't all have the alloy cabin bits, after all he started the whole thing off about 4 years ago. Personally I prefer his paddle style indicator stalks to the alternative lollypop ones but again at leats because of Clive we have the choice. Rich...
Ted,
Can't you tell from the URL or something ??
I was convinced it was Campbolt on a "wind up" until I read the word "aesthetic" no way our Cambridge would use such a grammatically advanced one ! I must say the earlier grammer was comparable though.
Strikes me as a personnal gripe though. Clive no sane person could get so offended by any mods to a car no matter how tasteless (in their opinion) they are. Do you reckon he sent VW hate mail after their recent advertising campaign.
For what it's worth I voiced my opinion earlier in the thread on your products, some I liked lots, others not and some I thought needed a little fine tuning. At the end of the day it's all about choice and individuality the service you offer provides both of these and ultimately will either succeed or fail on the opinions of the majority. Good luck. As for ! [/B] sod off your opinions aren't constructive or valued. If you've got an axe to grind with Clive either take it up with him directly, post it here in full publicly so that Clive can either defend himself or sue your arse off, or shut up. Taking snide swipes at his company, his products and person is the cowards (or competitors) way and not appreciated.
> on what tvr left unpolished, so you think tvr do things half hearted
Err, yes. TVR sell you a chassis, engine and drivetrain, and throw in a body, seats, etc. for free.
So as far as the body and interior are concerned - you get what you pay for
Personally, I'd rather pay what I paid for my TVR and then use people like Zertec (ie. Clive) and Leven Tech to improve various parts of the interior that spend 2 or 3 times as much on a Porsche that has had everything sorted.
On a side note, its interesting to note that the new Chimaera now has aluminium switchgear. Who says Clive hasn't influenced TVR?
Regards
Jon
Saturn 5 - steady there!
I don't agree with everything Clive does, but then I think the Tuscan is pig ugly and the Tamora is unspeakable, so TVR certainly don't always get it right.
I am considering changing my Chim to Zertec lights at both ends. The standard headlights remind me too much of dopey mini headlights. IMHO the Zertec twin headlights, especially when blended in, bring the Chim bang up to date without going that step over the edge to crassness that the Tuscan has. The Afterburner units ditto, and are especially attractive on the Chim for not requiring any external changes.
I would consider changing the mirrors, as I am sick of the paint peeling of the standard ones - which are a pig to clean also. I haven't actually seen the replacement ones though. Wasn't there going to be a choice of three at one point?
Some stuff I would like to see.
Currently the car top-down is marred by those unsightly sun visors, practically the only black things left in my car. Some nice colour coded leather ones, with alloy fastenings of course, would be great.
A Chimaera/Griffith baby seat. Surely one could be designed and approved to fit in the back, bolted through to the chassis? This would be a godsend for many as it would extend their of ownership a couple of years. Mounted centrally maybe, with some modified chairs with slightly narrower backs to give a little legroom. I'm dreaming, right?
The (long awaited) hardtop.
An alternative top-down option. Take the whole roof off, and just have a cover for whatever mess is left which is almost flush at the back. No more topdown visibility problems, a true roadster. Add a tonneau cover for protection when parked. Some people just don't use the car in the rain, and don't want a roof at all.
An extra dials kit - matching dials, wiring, template for marking/cutting the dash and the tool to make the cutout. Oil temp for starters please.
Agree about the sun visors, although they are necessary. I don't know how Tuscan drivers manage when the sun is really low in the sky.

Yes. The car is only approved for 2 people - insurance wouldn't pay out. It's a bit like having 4 kids in the back of a Mondeo, a 5 seater.

If you do this you will find that you'll get excessive buffeting. Look at the Z3/Porkster/TT Roadster and they all need screens to get around this. One advantage of the high folded position of the TVR roofs is preventing this buffeting.

Do you still get visibility problems even when you pull the velcro off the sides? I though that was solvable just by twiddling.

To Mel and every one else I would never consider in doing any thing like this to any person and at the early stages of this thread I made come coments about Clives products, good, not so good and I got some feed back which answerd my questions so keep makeing high quality products and I hope I will be bying some when I get a Griff
So how is this tit ! and Ted can you not make this forum so there must be something in the profile like an email address or something ?
quote:Depends how tall the driver is I guess. I'm lanky and visibility isn't A1 with the hood down, it would be terrible for shorter people. At least you get good visibility with the hood up - a lot of cars are really bad, the Saab for example. T/.
