Some kind soul cracked the wing mirror mount on my Chimaera in a car park, presumably knocked it with his fat arse as he got out of his car - TVR dealer said it's a bit of a bugger, because you need to strip the door trim down to get at some sort of screw to release the casing. Anyway, he replaced the mirror motor mount for £7 at a routine service - but it's still a bit loose, which may reflect the difficulty of doing it. Good luck!

I have now done this repair, and yes it is fiddly ! There is no need to remove the door panel to do this job as you can gain access to everything by removing the door speaker. Unfortunately, the mounting bracket(which is usually the thing that breaks) wasn't the problem in my case. It was the post that is part of the mirror assembly which screws onto the bracket that had in fact broken. It looked like someone had had a go at repairing it before and it hadn't held out. I have made a more permament fix (nut, bolt + liquid weld for good measure)to hold the post onto the mirror and then onto the bracket. Refitting the mirror to the door in the correct position is the biggest problem. There are tricks of the trade (thanks to Fernies & Christopher Neils for advice) though which make it easier, but it still becomes a bit of a trial and error game. Let me know if you need more details as I reckon that I could just about do it in my sleep after my efforts. Phil
