Fair point.

Although I think a Wiesmann would probably vaguely similar and I don't think Marcos or the beefier Ginettas were that far off.

Virtually nothing beats a TVR for aural pleasure (or character).

The original AMS demonstrator with 360hp on tap and under a ton felt comfortably quicker than the 4.5 Cerb I had a ride in recently though. It was one of the most savage cars I've ever driven. Admittedly the standard car with a far more conservative turbo calibration isn't quite the same, but it's still a very rapid way of getting from A to B.

I've looked at these before.

I like the look and they must be a hoot to drive.

My concern would be massive depreciation and all-year useability - is it watertight? Does the heater work?

If the answer is no then I reckon Caterfield is better option.....

Driving a Z4M is on my list of cars to consider - must get a drive in one...dropped lots in price recently.

I have one - front and rear heated screens and a heater!!
It is definitely a hoot to drive and seems to do very good mpg but it does not weigh much.
It's my only car so gets driven everyday, so far - BIG thumbs up!

So ...in summary everyone on the thread who's actually driven one likes it. Not a TVR, or a direct substitue there of, but a great toy nonetheless.

Probably the wrong place to post this thread but you can't undermine the Murtaya.

I have driven a few of these, the drivetrains are built by enginetuner.co.uk who are behind my place and I have done the geo on a few of them. It's a very capable package giving a lot of performance for the moolah.

Adrenaline motorsport is a small company based in Cornwall run by devoted petrolheads, Neil and the boys are a great bunch of blokes who are in it for the right reasons. Every year we go to Le Mans they are always on the ferry from Plymouth and ready for a road ruck on the way down.

You need to drive one to have a valued criticism.

I do like and respect TVRs enormously but would not buy one - I am glad that other people do though just so that we can all see and hear them!
I'll be sticking with my Murtaya for now though and when it rains and the roads are greasy I am sure I will be glad I did - I am no driving god and am hoping that AWD will see me alright.

Don't understand the negative comments about the Murtaya confused

Sound more like people not gettin enough lovin or got out of bed the wrong side.

Personally think it looks good, very much the beefy looking sports cars we all love.

And that 180 degree V4 (ok boxer/flat 4 tongue out ) sounds pretty good IMO.

Certainly more of a TVR alternative in ethos than many other cars.

Me likey smile

Very true.

To think they are the only car in the world and that they are well built .. well..

They were good in their day but are no longer built new .. so there are fewer and fewer good cars out there.. so people have to look for new alternatives for their driving pleasure.

Was the Murtaya originally the Delfino Feroce ("ferocious dolphin", FFS) or was that another roadster based on Impreza running gear?

Exactly, it's fast becoming the MG of the naughties.
