I would have thought that it would be easier to make new jigs and tooling than import and fix those. Any moulds will be shot now.
Why would the moulds be shot? Its not like their going to rust away.. going by the fact that the breakers in the Uk want 3k plus for a damaged chim shell, how many bodies plus the mould and chassis can you stick in a 30ft container... anyone want to go part shares? It only cost 1000USD to ship a 911 from LA to the Uk..
IIRC the Mk2 chim bodyshell, with the bonnet vents and the different nose came about after development for the malaysian cars.. you hear a lot about how bad the quality of the malaysian cars was supposed to be but when I visited in 2001, the ones I saw were well put together, infact they even put the ecu on a nice little bracket rather than stuffing it on top of the battery with the wiring
They do deteriorate over time and the surface will become porus and probably cracked especially being left outside in a combination of humidity and heat.
ETAI'm sure I heard somwhere that the 'poor quality' excuse given out was just that 'an excuse' and that there were other reasons for ceasing production in Malaysia.
