Hi guys

Is it possible to shove a Rover V8 and gearbox into a triumph without too many problems????

I've got a 2500 Auto and want to do it up a bit, as shes a bit on the slow side!!!

Any suggestions???

Thanks
Ben

Yeah indeed it is possible I've seen it done. Was a car in my old Triumph Club running a tuned 3.5L (200bhpish) thru an auto box (I think even the standard one) and it worked pretty well... think there was a LITTLE bit of fabrication involved for the engine mounts etc, but it's certainly not impossible

I'd have though it a lot easier to junk the gearbox and put in a manual/overdrive 'box. Then twaek up the 2.5. You can get quite more alot out them without too much effort. Does youur car have PI or carbs?

There were factory prototypes of the saloon fitted with both the Stag and Rover V8. Canley Classics have an example of each in their collection. See their website here.

Also there were the quite well known Del Lines converted cars with V8's, so all in all should be a pretty straightforward conversion. I'm sure Canley Classics would let you take a look at their museum cars and probably even offer a bit of guidance.

Sounds like an interesting project.
