My fuel gauge is always showing half full (or half empty if you're a pessimist! ) so until I fix it I've been relying on checking the mileage between fill ups. Only problem is I can't get the Odometer to reset - it's a Smiths speedo and I've tried pulling and twisting on the thing that sticks out under the dash, but I don't want to force it - I know it works because the chap I bought it from reset the trip before I drove off. What am I doing wrong??

Twist it. Sometimes you have to twist it a few times while it "takes up the slack".

If it still don't work it may have come unclipped from the back of the speedo, in which case you know it's been unclipped previously because they don't break/come unclipped unless someone has tried to unclip it sorry about the gibberish!
