Can someone help please😖

I’ve recently imported a beautiful 1956 TR3 from South Africa and have fallen foul of the DVLA.

I have a heritage certificate from the South African Vintage Car Club, Confirmation of the car’s age in a letter from Toyota, who were previously known as Motor Assemblies who built the car under licence from Standard Motors. Photos of the Commissioning Number Plate and the Build Number at Motor Assemblies on the engine bulkhead, which were removed for the car’s total restoration in 2004 and attached again.

Unfortunately the registration document from the previous owner states the car as “Built Up”.

They’re trying to issue me with a “Q” plate which will render this beautiful heritage car worthless😔

DVLA say they will consider issuing an age related number plate if I get a letter from the South African authorities saying the car is safe to drive on British Roads!.........help!😖

With respect to the experts here, suggest you contact the TR Register, who will know all about SA exports, and can inform you and the DVLA dorks to your and their satisfaction!

See: http://www.tr-register.co.uk/contact
I hope you will join the TRR, but I'm sure they will help before you do that!

Issueing registration certificate as bult up is often as a consequence of the original documents having gone missing at some point in SA.
Pretty sure for any reg docs to be issued the car requires to have a police clearance and a road worthy test/certificate.
You may want to contact the seller to ask if they are able to provide you with the RWC.
Also, is a MOT test or IVA inspection in the UK not sufficient to have an age related plate issued?
