Jigsaw, who supplied me a lot of parts and advice in the past have closed so who would you go to for fast road/ competition parts for a Spitfire?

Interesting question, though many of the performance parts have always been available from/actually produced by the other suppliers - Moss/Canley Classics/Rimmer/James Paddock/TSSC club shop/etc.

Moss Europe are still going strong. They were certainly good in the 90s, although they've diversified into other makes now.

Rimmer Brothers are also a long established name in this area, and still going.

The big question is - how far do you want to go??? It's still possible to buy a twin Weber conversion kit, but there are other options (like supercharging) that would require custom fabrication.......

My personal experience:

Moss - top parts availablity (for MkIV/1500) and top parts quality - but top prices to match.
Rimmer - top parts availability for all models, and very good parts quality - but top prices too.
Paddocks - only good parts availability for all models but top parts quality, and good prices.
Canley - top parts availability for all models but only good parts quality, but good prices to balance it.

What happened to John Kipping? They were brilliant when I had my GT6.

Indeed - I remember John & Fiona very well. I've not been to Canley Classics, as I've been away from the Triumph scene for a very long time now. John Hill in Redditch was also handy for some parts, but I've not heard of them for a long time

I have been reliably informed JK is still in bed at 9.20 on a cold Saturday morning in earthquake prone but covid free Christchurch NZ - just waiting for Mrs Caziques to wake up and put the bacon on.

If anybody would like to purchase a late GT6 Mk III that has never been welded (complete with J type o/d), or if you require an underfloor heating system...I'll pass the message on.

John Kipping parts kept my Mk IV on the road when i was working in Coventry in the late 80s. Visits to the store were one of the pleasures of Spitfire ownership.
