Ooh, frost and ice for the i3 on winters this morning. Interesting comparison with last year in the Panda 4x4 on all seasons.

An update on the Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport which I fitted to the CL600 i.e. a heavy rwd with lots of torque and from low revs — I’ve now driven over two thousand miles and through a variety of roads in Europe over a range of temps — 5°C to 19°C and also at speed (autobahn). They are very pressure sensitive and benefit from higher psi — I settled on 38F and 41R and that made them much more stable at speed. I did have an early start in forest roads and they were a little slippery when cold though I hadn’t adjusted the tyre pressures by that point. So far so good and I look forward to seeing how they perform in proper winter conditions.

Would be interested to hear how you get on with the i3 on winters. We'll be picking one up in a few weeks once the E-Up has gone. Tyres options for the i3 are limited and I'm still weighing up whether to fit CC2's all round and be done with it or buy a second set of wheels and get dedicated winters on them. Probably leaning more towards the CC2 option but £170 per corner is hard to stomach for a 155 tyre!

Our Panda 4x4 came on Conti All Season Contact 2's. Not tried them in snow yet but have high hopes.

Very German. Seems to be the norm there now, a GTI or an R, etc, on either steelies or 17" Borbet aftermarket wheels as they have an AbE for passing TuV without any hassle.
they've served me well. This will be my 7th winter on the wheels, 2nd set of Goodyear ultragrip tyres.
Very few marks on the wheels, they certainly seem tough and durable.

Sure it ll be fine if you re going downhill! Make a lovely sledge.

Last winter we had drifting snow deep enough to be dragging on the bottom of the pickup (about 8”). I think cool cars are off the menu for me!

I’m needing to get some tyres sorted for my wife’s new car, kuga hybrid with 225/55/19 tyres.

It’s currently got continental somethings on the back and a mix of hedgemasters and ditchfinders on the front. In sport mode with wot it’s tugging the steering wheel like an old school hot hatch, whilst amusing, it’s not really practical in bad weather.

I have got gen3 Goodyears on the old car and they have been really good but Costco are doing cc2’s with £100 off for four which make them £125/each fitted.

Any other recommendations with this size?

At that price I’d just fit the CC and drive it. They’re great all round tyres, we have them on my wife’s discovery sport in NE Scotland with no problems.

£125 fitted is ridiculous.

After having two sets of wheels for our old VW California T6 and doing the change over twice a year, I was in a quandary about what to do now we have a bigger van (based on a MAN TGE/VW Crafter) and Golf GTI CS Mk8. Figured best to keep the car on performance summer tyres and switch the van to something more suitable than the OEM Continentals. This time decided on Michelin Agilis Cross Climate all seasons, which do have the 3 Peaks symbol which mean they pass as winters, and avoid the change over. Ordered via ASDA Tyres, who were £40 a corner cheaper than Blackcircles.

Fitted last Friday in Aberdeen, and a good test tonight driving out to see my old man in the 'shire. Pity the sleety snow had stopped mid evening!

So based on a Mercedes Sprinter?

These are a big heavy Van so assuming they need good tyres. Mine has BF Goodrich All Terrain which are a bit sheet in snow. Let me know how you get on please.

The mobile tyre fitter I use has a LWB Sprinter and runs Agilis CC so that's a good recommendation!
They're chunky looking things with a block pattern on the sidewall.

That's the older vans, 2017-on are no longer Sprinter based and developed by VAG all by themselves. The chunkier tread pattern, I'm hoping, will be reasonable on wet grass too. Will report back - in the past I've had a few sets of full winters on other vehicles. Probably snowing at the moment here, but the roads are carnage so not going anywhere!
