Not the usual thing for here but I'm scratching my head over this...

Fitted new discs, calipers and pads to rear of van having had a caliper stick on - fronts done about 18 months ago.

New brake fluid in as well.

The brakes have dragged on and over heating at the back.

Bled through the system and cycled it ignition on and off to keep the ABS module primed

Can't get a good pedal feel. Soft on initial application but pumps up hard. Once firm turn on ignition and the pedal sinks as the vacuum comes in so I'm thinking the Master Cylinder is functioning correctly- that looks new (ish) and certainly has been replaced at some point.

When braking the rear of the van is squatting as the rears are doing more of the work.

There is a space where the bias box would normally be.... the brake lines back are original so nothing there has been removed. I'm guessing the ABS has something in the module that would replace the bias controller?

My only thought is a collapsing flexible pipe at the rears but it seems a huge knock on for that? Have new ones on order but looking for alternatives if that isn't the fix.

Ideas welcome....

Is the van lowered at all?

Is it empty in the back?

I have a t4 myself and mine was very twitchy at the rear after lowering it until I added a steel framed rock and roll seat.

The vwt4forum is a good source of information though if you want advice.

Standard other than the usual caravelle 10mm drop.

Before changing rears all was fine.
