I've recently gotten an old IS300, and I've been running into some issues with rumbling between certain speeds that I can't figure out the cause of.

It's got all new tyres, balanced, aligned etc. however at around ~25-35 mph there's a pretty intense rumbling. It almost feels as if one of the rear wheels is bent, but the rumbling subsides enough to be nearly unnoticable after 40. It's not isolated to acceleration or deceleration, either, nor does it only happen when hot/cold.

If I put the car in neutral and rev it through the entire rev range it's smooth.

Nothing comes through the steering wheel, it feels like it's coming from underneath the car. More specifically, around the back wheels, though it's felt everywhere.

I've read that there can be problems with sticking calipers, but after driving no disk is warmer than any of the others. A previous MOT advisory had a recommendation of changing the suspension bushes, which hasn't been done, is this something that could potentially cause a problem?

I'm aware this could be a whole manner of things, but the limited speed range at which the problem seems to rule out a lot of things regarding the tyres/wheels themselves. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing before?

Possibly - and given that you've ruled out some other obvious potential causes I think that would be worth investigating.

Yeah - I've gotten it booked in to have the entire suspension setup looked at, since I'm not good enough at spannering to start messing around with that myself.

Felt like it was worth getting a second opinion to see if there was any possibility I missed, though.

Cheers for the help.

Wheel bearing or cheap tyres?
