Hi, I have been qoted for brake discs and front suspension arms for around £110 each by local garage but there is a big price difference on ebay.

For an example, this one is around £60 and comes with 12 mont warranty;

There is a risk of buying wrong part online but are they low quality ones?

Can anyone pls advise.

Rightly or wrongly I only fit aftermarket parts from known brands that I heard of and have confidence in, Eg Brembo, TRW etc.

'no name' parts could be just fine but they could be cheap far eastern rubbish that won't last as long as good stuff. Not a gamble I'll take personally.

Buying from an online trader can save you a lot of money but you carry the risk that you will get substandard parts, the wrong parts or no parts at all.

How likely any of those outcomes are will depend on the trader. If it's a large, reputable company with an online store, it's usually pretty safe. If it's a fly-by-night ebay merchant, it's much more of a gamble.

To have confidence the actual part is genuine and not a knock-off or reboxed, you need to buy from a reputable supplier too.

Yes, very much so. I do that, but it's a good point to mention

If you've just gone to a local garage likely you'll have been quoted full recommended retail.

Try a local motor factor - Euro Car Parts, Parkers etc.

I've bought parts online & usually 99/100 what's turned up has been fine & that goes for ebay too - but I do take careful note of what the ad says. Items described as 'quality aftermarket part' with no given brand will usually be ignored.

Other problem with buying online is that if they are wrong returns can be problematic.

The 'Thumbs Up' symbol is the Korean equivalent of the British 'Kitemark'.
I think.

Just go to Euros and buy either Pagid or Brembo, although blueprint make a lot of Jap stuff.

There are usually variations too and sometimes what you order isn't right. Not to mention if you supply the wrong part you are going to incur two lots of labour because a garage is not going to leave your car on the ramp while you sort the mess out. Oh and not to mention brakes make a difference and your life could depend on it don't penny pinch. Have you checked to see if the garage would let you supply your own parts ?
