Bought an Skf bearing for the front of my mondeo, I've just read something that's confused me, and I'm just in the middle of the job about to fit bearing.
I read if the cars got abs it needs a certain type of wheel bearing? Is that correct? Bearing I bought was for a 2001-2007 mondeo, seller mentioned nothing about abs in the Ebay listing.

Quick google brings this up from a Ford forum which says that the bearing has to be fitted a certain way round for the abs to work as part of it's built intothe bearing.

Came across this issue when replacing a front wheel bearing on one of our Peugeots but simple enough as the manufacturer's paperwork that came with the bearing showed correct orientation - I got the replacement from a local motor factor using the vehicle VIN number.

Neighbour used to have a Mondeo, he replaced a front wheel bearing in his ABS car with a non ABS bearing, from the sound of it the bearing was about 2 mm too big and merrily ate its way through the ABS sensor.

So yeah, check which bearing you use!

I think I've got the correct one, someone said to check if one side of my bearing is magnetic, it is. This is the end that goes towards the sensor seemingly.
It has a brown ring with faint notches the sensor picks up on, which were so faint I never noticed them to start with!
