Hi, new here and only recently passed my test, my mechanical knowledge is next to zero currently!

I have a 05’ grand scenic 1.5, when I have the wheels straight, and turn slightly left OR right, there is a clunk/boing noise that I can also feel through the steering wheel, it only does it at the start of the turns (roughly 11 and 1 o’clock.)

Any idea what it could be?

Strut top bearing seized, broken spring, worn track rod end, ball joint....

That suggests you have backlash in either the suspension and/or steering. If you can get a helper to move the steering gently back and forth a small amount while you put your hands on the various joints and bushes in the steering and suspension it will probably be obvious where the play is. Do be very careful not to get your hands trapped.

Thanks guys, I got my daughter to turn the wheel while I was looking, the coil spring is vibrating every time it does it, I can’t see anything broken on it but I haven’t taken the wheel off or anything to look.

That suggests the problem may be in the top strut bearing as Cuprabob suggested.

Ok thanks, I don’t think I have the tools at the moment to take that apart, I’ll have to have a local garage look at it.
