I went to drive onto the motorway last weekend and as I was driving over a a fly over and turning to the right around the bend A very loud scraping noise began on the front passenger wheel and it kind of scared me because I could feel that the steering became stiff too.

Since then this has been intermittent and doesn't happen all the time, also it sounds like something is loose underneareath doen around there and is sliding left and right like a piece of metal sliding on another piece of metal. If Iturn left I can sometimes hear it sliding right and if I turn right it slides to the left but not all of the time, I also hear it sliding backwards but only when I first pull away after parking up for a while.

It sounds like whatever sounds loose is related to the scraping on that wheel when turning but this is all intermittent.

Time to head for a garage.

That is your cue to pull over to the side of the road and call your recovery service. You need to get the car checked over by a competent mechanic before you drive it any further.

You could at least presumably check the wheel nuts aren't falling off without the help fo a garage.

Sounds very much like a broken spring and collapsed strut top bearing. As recommended on the previous posts have s garage look at it as you as you can and don't use it in the meantime.

When I say restricted I felt like I couldn't turn it past how much I was already turning it.

Anyway I booked it in tomorrow.

They said it is the wish bone and that the grinding is probably from the scorn disc (maybe a stone got in there).
