Hi guys I’m completed stumped on this one.

Car is a 1.6 petrol Renault Megane 2010. The accelerator has started to stick and maintain speed, you need to put your foot under it to release it. When it does this it’ll over Rev when you chance gear. I can’t work out what it could be. No mats in the car so definitely not this. Has anyone ever come across this ?
Many thanks

Not familiar with Renaults but being a 2010 I doubt it would have a throttle cable and it would just be a plug in, bolt on potentiometer type pedal, if pulling it up cures it - then it’s just the pedal itself that is the problem - try and lubricate it or just replace it - I’m sure second hand ones on eBay will be cheap as chips

Try operating by pedal by hand - you may feel more stiction than normal, and if so it should be straight forward to find the source. If it's a cable operated throttle, the cable would be a likely candidate.

Even without a cable to operate there will still be a return spring on the pedal itself.

As others have said you need to get down there & have a closer look at it.
