So my 1981 80 is a being a tit.weber carb fitted with manual choke btw not the auto pierburg carb.

Been dry stored for 4 years, go to start it (battery has been disconnected and used in an e36 perfectly for 4 years) and i dont get any dash lights, no fuel level etc bit weird, car then cranks but will not start no matter how much i give it.
But if i keep turning the key from 0 to 2 (ignition on for dash lights etc) back and forth eventually the dash lights up and i get fuel level, cold start light etc etc and it starts right up!
Ive replaced the ignition switch no luck, the relay, no luck. My next step is leads and dizzy.
Any other ideas what could cause this issue?!
Theres plenty of juice in the battery as its started my 328i on the button for 4 years.
Many thanks

Before you start firing the parts cannon at it, let's get back to basics.

Remove, clean, and properly tighten every one of the high current connections on the battery, alternator & starter.

Agree. This is where I would look first.

Hahaha parts cannon. Love it. Yeah fair play, i will check them out and give them all a clean with some brake cleaner and a wire brush. My battery negative terminal is in need of a new terminal connection i will start by replacing that and cleaning all the connections to starter etc
