Can anybody recommend a cheap way of rewinding the rear calipers on my VW CC? I.e. what's the cheapest plug in tool that will do this?

Can you use a pair of needle nose pliers ends on?

I've got rewind kits for normal calipers but the motorized handbrake needs to be electrically rebound.

I've heard connecting a 9 volt battery to the terminals on the caliper is ok but I suspect there's more to it than that.

I've used a 12 supply from a battery direct onto the back of the hand brake motor on the caliper and they wind the pistons back.

Done many times on a golf no problem !.

Thanks. I'd hear things about it resetting the open and closed position etc, as if the settings needed to be learnt/calibrated by the car. If none of that is necessary though then I'll try the 12v approach.

Unbolt ( 2 torx ) the motor and turn the torx clockwise to wind back .
Then a conventional piston retractor .

Plenty of u tube vids .
