All 4 calipers seized in 1 month
Discussion
Audi A3, 2012 diesel
As per the title, I had a caliper seize on me 2 weeks ago. Yesterday the rear caliper seized and on replacing this, the mechanic told me the other rear one was also looking iffy and needed to be freed up a bit. Said it needed replacing soon.
On the journey home, the front passenger side has completely seized...
Ive been told its common on this car, and perhaps this cold weather and extra salt on the roads has contributed? But could there be anything underlying causing this or am I just unlucky?

The only underlying issue is the laws of physics mate.
Water + heat + salt + oxygen + steel = rust.
It was always going to happen & under normal circumstances when finding an issue like the first one it is always a good idea to look a bit more closely at the others as they are all the same age & living in the same conditions.
It sounds like maybe the factory don't pre-lubricate them on yours, or maybe they have all been worked on & cleaned too well before hand.

An 8 year old car and all calipers seizing at once ?
I'd say that is very unusual in any case.

Anyone cleaned the wheels and got enthusiastic with truckwash? possibly even wheel acid that had made it through the wheels to the calipers and then wasn't washed off again?
Alternatively, where all the pads changed at the same time, not so long ago?
