I have a Mk 3 Astra, which is not exactly the sharpest handling thing around.

I recently changed the bushes, which has sharpened up the steering a bit, but the worst thing is the boat like body roll through the bends.

So, what can I do to improve things? I am not looking to turn it into a track tool, rather make it a little more willing to go round corners.

What would be the most cost effective way to do this.
Would stiffer dampers be enough, or would stronger springs be required as well?

stiffer dampers will certainly make it *feel* sharper and will benefit and transient suspension stages, but won't limit the total roll / pitch / dive angles the car gets to, they will only delay the time it takes to get it there. A proper spring and damper and roll bar package is what you really need if you want to control the total angles the car gets to.

Ok. I guess what I am really asking is, is it worth just changing the dampers or am I wasting my time?

It's not so much the roll angle that is bothering me, but the rather unsettling feeling when changing from one lock to the other.

The real answer is to buy a proper car, but can't justify it at the moment.
