Cheap tyres or cheap rims?

I have never seen that amount of weights on a wheel before.

What do you think... fubar?

It is balanced. But it feels a bit dirty.

70g I can see there, not sure if there is more to the left though.

It's not ideal but it's not horrendous either.

The only time I have had that many weights was when the wheel had a slight buckle.
Later I had the wheels refurbished and the offending wheel straightened, needed a lot less weight after that.

Have these tyres just been fitted?

If so, check that the red / white dot is in the correct position.

Doesn't have to be either. I had a mobile fitter put new 214x45x17 Toyo R30's on new Lexus rims. I watched him chase the balance around the rims ending up with 80 - 130g across all four with some weights almost opposite on the same wheel. They didn't wobble but there was a harshness and thrum at high speed. Took them to a garage I trust and ended up with 5-20g after simply removing the anvils he'd installed. Smooth as silk.smile

OEM BMW + Bridgestone (Runflats)
230s?

They can buckle and a few have cracked especially with runflats fitted.

In my experience a decent tyre on a decent rim will require very little balance weight. If you've got a good chunk of weight on an OEM rim with an OEM tyre, then I'd be checking the rim and tyre for something that is not quite right with either component.

As has been said above, could be a wheel slightly buckled, tyre fitters never check for it, but that many weights should always be a trigger to check.

Lol, probably because like me others read it as popular.
