Can you clean up and refit the old nut? Would confirm its the issue, and likely get you through the test until you source the correct one.
That is the old nut - the nut that was supplied with new strut mount was a different thread. Although it did not have the flange on it, but because different thread (probably M14) I could not use itsilentbrown said:
You've got a non-flanged nut under the washer on the other side, which looks correct. What happened to the old non-flanged nut on the side you changed ? That's what you should be using.
Thanks - I will watch that. The nut on the side that I changed, with both flange and nyloc lock, that is the nut that was on the strut. My gut feeling is its had work before and the wrong nut has been put on. I wanted a shallower nut but no ironmongers today (4 of them) could helpFinal description.
It's now 25 months after this original post. Am assuming, as it's not stated - that the "fix" was to put a standard nut on top of new mount then the dished washer inside engine bay and then the new lock nut?
Just came across exact same drama today also with a 2013 Master. The issue is...some of the old top mounts have a recess (for the locating bush) in them where the securing nut (m14x1.5) - a standard non lock nut) then sits flush with the face of the mount. The new style (FEBI) top mounts have the internal bush protruding to the top face of the mount on top of which a standard m14x1.5 nut 11mm high (non lock nut) fits to hold everything in place - then again from inside the bay you fit the dish washer and tall flanged lock nut.
Would have added some pics but no option on here to do so.....
