I've got access to some cheap(er) Castrol SRF brake fluid and I'm considering using it at my next brake fluid change on my daily driver (3yr old Audi TT). But as it's a 'racing' fluid do I have to change it more regularly than the normal DOT4 stuff? I was kind of hoping that I could do a change and then it would last for >2 years and I'd get the higher performance benefit in the meantime.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Most brake fluids should be changed once every two years anyway.

you'll only get the benefit of a 'race' fluid such as SRF if you regularly take your road car brake fluid up to a dry boiling point above that of a standard DOT 4/5 fluid. Otherwise, you'll just spend £30 (or however cheaply you can get SRF) more than you need to. It is very hygroscopic (or whatever the word is for a substance that takes in water!) ATE super blue, or AP550 or AP600 is sub £10 and way better than most standard fluids, and should be more than adequate for your needs. You also need to ensure you have fully bled the existing system prior to filling with SRF otherwise you won't reap the full benefit.

Thanks guys.

Was able to get it for £20 a liter (half price) but I doubt the benefit will really be worth the expense. Anywhere online that I can get the ATE stuff?
