Good Afternoon

I just purchased a 2 year old car from a main dealer for the better half .
Right car / good deal etc .
Got it home, noticed a bit of s smell. A close inspection found a lot of dog hairs in those hard to get at places.
Yes i'm an idiot frown
4 hours later all removed & looked like s new car.
Maguires cleaner released while car running & smells gone.
All good.

But ..
Went for a drive. Wife's beige handbag has marks. Like boot polish. Rub kitchen towel in carpets, like a black mark on it.
WTF have they put on all of the carpets, back front boot.
Nowhere else. Seats etc no trace.

Dealer agrees it's not right & a proper valeter booked in next week to hopefully put it right. Full carpet clean. In for a few days.

I've been reasonable but if it's not right I can change it under dealer 30 day programme. Bit I don't want to over this.

Any idea how a cowboy smile can do this to a 2 year old car ? Can it be resolved properly ?!

Update Dealers cleaners do a spit & a polish. So whatever was done was by last owner I guess before hand back. Private owner.

They probably sprayed the floor trim with Midnight carpet dye during the valet.

From a novice
Maybe it was applied over a previously 'scotchguarded' carpet? So runs off & stains?

They spray it on to cover up soiling or sometimes if there's sand in the carpet that they can't hoover out. Once dry it shoudn't stain but if the carpet was wet when they sprayed it maybe it's taking longer to dry?

yeah spraying the carpets will make a half a$$ed hoovering job look acceptable when maybe it needed twice as long and a wet vac to do it properly

Yes I know a valeter who does a quick Hoover then sprays the carpets with a black spray to make it look like they've been washed!

Ok thanks
I saw the car a week before pickup so must be dry.
It's in for a proper 'vax' carpet clean next week, so hopefully will remove whatever some cowboy applied to all of the carpets!
If not they can take it back under the 30 day return.

Will it come off / prevent it staining clothes etc?
Rub kitchen paper over it, looks the same as if you had rubbed paper on newly polished shoes. I.E. leaves a black mark.
Ruined wife's handbag on drive back from dealer!

Is it a leather bag? Might be worth trying to wipe it over with some alcohol hand sanitizer before writing the bag off, it got biro off my partners bag before after my niece coloured it in for her laugh what at great day that was....

I had no idea carpets got painted either so can't be of any help with that I'm afraid.
