Hello,

Looking for a new vacuum cleaner, what does anyone recommend?

Had a Dyson Animal cylinder recently, it was good for the car, but useless on the house carpets......suction head too powerful and could not be turned down....so swapped it for a Big Ball....better for the house, but too awkward to use on the car.

So what do you guy's recommend on here?

Henry?
Dyson cylinder?
Hoover?

Would be interested in your opinion........budget ideally <£100.....but could stretch if worth it.

I like soft bristle heads for interior dashboard cleaning, long extension for nooks and crannies and leave extraction under windscreen scuttle.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cant really comment.

I read a few reviews, drew a bit of a blank, and bought a second hand 'refurbished' DC04 for £50 off ebay. That was 7 years ago and i have not looked back.

Starting to look a bit tatty, but that mainly due to my use and abuse, although it is obviously also not new.

Well, I finally made a decision...….

I purchased a VAX machine, 900W, various attachments and a turbo bristle cleaner....should be good for the mats I thought. Well, suction power is brilliant, good length of cable and hose......but sadly handle is ergonomically awful - too long and bent. To add to that the turbo bristle is simply at the wrong angle.....has to be held flat against the mats to clean them.

On top of this the crevice cleaners are simply too wide and big for getting into the nooks and crannies on the car.

So, my next question is.....does anyone have a Henry hoover and are they any good for cleaning the car to a high standard? What are the attachments like, do they work well on a car that gets pretty dirty due to my daughters eating disorder and ability to make the cleanest environment look like zoo feeding time !!

Appreciate any help / advice / opinions...….this is beginning to bug me as I thought it would be simple to pick a replacement hoover to simply clean a car !

Henry. Had it for years. Used for workshop & our cars plus with abranet for dry sanding.
Caravan place I do a lot of work for use Henrys at both their pitches.

We also have a George which does everything Henry does but has the shampooing/carpet cleaning facility as well.

….second decision on vacuum made.....henry, but with petcare head....and also a few accessories.
In the end it was the attachments which can be added that made the decision. There is a wide variety within the 32 - 35mm hose diameter.
Power is 620w, not great but should be enough....only downside is the bags, I don't like paying for them....but that is the Henry technology and not bagless.
I'll let you know how it goes......did find a garage vac that I nearly bought but it was £300- and that is a bit too much.

I've got a Dyson ball thingy for upstairs because it's carpets and a Henry (1200W) for downstairs because it's all floorboards.

Henry is indestructible. There's a reason tradesmen all use one! The attachments have have are the rectangle one for doing seats, stairs etc, a soft brush round head for more delicate stuff (good for dashboard and trim) plus the long slim nozzle which gets down the side of most car seats. I also bought a traditional brush head to make doing carpets easier for when the Dyson breaks down.

I prefer bags, wish more vacuums used them. Emptying Henry is a nice clean affair. Emptying the Dyson usually ends up with a cloud of disgusting dust blowing back all over me.

Another vote for the Henry. For in-grained stuff (after a garden waste tip run, for example) the Henry is great. It is just a faff getting it all out and then the hose seems to go the exact opposite way I want it to sometimes.

For a simple spruce up, I use the household Dyson cordless V6. Far more convenient and sucks pretty well too.

Another vote for these. We have one of these - https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb350vac-1300w-1...

I've never seen suction like it (stop sniggering at the back.... !) it's more powerful than any of the Dysons and Gtech that we have.

We bought it to get rid of a tonne (quite literally) of soot dust from the loft, we've cleared about 3/4's of it, and it's not yet managed to kill it. Soot is evil stuff for vacuum cleaners, so we'd not blame it if it had!

I can't recall a soft brush attachment, but could these be pretty universal size?

Bought one for the garage too, cracking bit of kit.
The attachment for household carpet cleaning is garbage but for cars and diy crap it’s fine.

Screwfix alternative is good, the blow function is handy also. But damn it's loud!
