IMHO Duke is one of the great albums of our time, recorded in ABBA's Polar Studios at a similar time to Zeppelin's In Through The Out Door but with the success of Collins solo album Face Value using Hugh Padgham and his love of all that nasty 80s technology six years after the release of Duke they made their worse album, Invisible Touch.
It was due to this period in the 80s Genesis and Phil Collins in particular got a bad rep, they sold their soul for the £/$ and the title track to Invisible Touch sounds as nasty as any mid 80s song could but lets not forget that six years earlier they made one of the greatest albums ever.

Duke is a superb album. The last of the great Genesis disks.

My preference is Gabriel era, but the Collins ones up to Duke are tremendous too.

Duke is an excellent album, I've listened to it several times recently. The songs flow from one to the next and I love the way certain riffs/themes/tunes reappear during the course of the album. Definitely one to listen to in the correct sequence and not on shuffle!

Duke had a different running order initially. Behind.., Duchess, Guide Vocal, Turn it..., Dukes Travels and Dukes end were a suite for side one. Genesis then thought the 2nd side would be weak, so changed the running order. The suite in the right order is superb.

Nah, they were finished at foxtrot

Ok maybe not, but that's always been my fave, maybe because it's the first I ever bought

There was a great b-side to the Misunderstanding 45 called Evidence Of Autumn which I'm guessing was recorded at a similar time.

I don't dislike the rest of the tracks, but agree Invisible Touch itself is a howler.

I was always of the opinion that Genesis improved a little when Gabriel left, and a lot when Hackett left. I couldn't wait for Collins to leave, but after he did, they only made one album. A shame.

TBH I thought they improved greatly when Gabriel left, he threw his hat in the ring with 80s technology, when that track Sledgehammer comes on the radio now it really grates on me.
Met him in the lift at AES in 1987.

Surprised there's been no mention of 'Genesis'. Deffo in my top three Genesis albums.

MY Favourite band of all time, saw them in early 75 on the Lamb tour in what used to be called the Gaumount Southampton, again in 1977 on the Wind and Weathering tour and finally at Twickenham in 2007.
The complete Lamb live version is still my favourite piece of music, closely followed by W&W. Agree Duke is Very good too.

I would say Live they are right up there as one of the best of all time, Fantastic musicians. My favourite live moments were Los Endos in 77 the first time I saw twin Superb drummers make such a brilliant “noise” and the Old medley on the 2007 tour, especially the Cinema show segment, makes the hairs stand up smile

It is a good album. First I had on vinyl. It had a scratch, and I still expect the skip when listening to Mama 30 years later.
