Hi all,

Appreciate this is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question -

My vw corrado needs a bit of paint work and some welding. The interior is currently stripped aside from drivers seat and dash. I will be putting it back together once it is finished.

Jobs to do:

-both the sides of the car to be resprayed, to do this I want the doors and wings removed so a nice job can be made of the inner bits around hinges etc.
-the front windscreen removing and a small piece of rot 1x1cm wide only visible from the inside fixing
-the fuel filler area cutting out and welding in a new panel (supplier) - this is worst case.
-one rear arch has a few small 0.2mm rust bubbles starting to show on the inner lip (hasn't broken paint). Hopefully this will be fixed with some sandblasting or so I was told.

The car is solid white.

My first quote has come through at £8-10k. I was impressed with the bodyshop and their work but that's a hell of a lot of money I thought. I've read posts of people getting bare metal resprays for £8k but that was a few years ago now.

Looking for rough opinions from people's experience and any recommendations too. I'm based in Herts but happy to travel reasonable distances. Although the car is worth a lot to me and has been refreshed massively mechanically, at the end of the day the Corrado is not a fast appreciating classic so I need to be sensible on what I spend.

Pictures of the car can be seen in my thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Cheers,
Matt
