Anybody got any good tips on polishing out scratches on polycarbonate plastic windows?

I have a "polishing shop" kit but am not overly impressed with my efforts to date.

Failing that, anybody know anywhere that will polish plastic 'on the car'?

I once did an apprentice project that required a clear polycarb viewing sight to be turned up in a lathe, then highly polished so that it could be used as a sight....I remember turning it, which obviously left it opaque, then using wet and dry in increasing grades, finishing off with Brasso (!!) of all things, to leave it highly polished....however, that was spinning the part in a lathe chuck at high speed, but it did work perfectly.

We use a product called Meguiars Plastix.

It is based on the principle that the more you work it the more the product breaks down and smooths the edge of the scratch so that it is less obvious and will more often than not totally remove the scratch.

we use novus plastic polish on the aircraft at work, and i use it on the windows of my kit car and my mates race car, its absolutelty brilliant stuff.
it comes in three grades, 1,2 and 3, with 1 just being a polish, 2 for light scratches, and 3 for quite bad scratches.
it brings the windows up like new, and on things like my old watch glass, it got rid of all the scratches, and left it like new!
