Hi all, in late 1972 and into early 1973, Britain received 500 Right hand drive 3.0 CSLs. It's anyone's guess just how many of the 500 have survived, but it's probably under 200 cars. A few however ( possibly 20 odd ) have over the years been shipped to Australia inc No 1, which was was originally painted Ceylon Gold. This car went out in the early 1980s via the long defunct " London CSL Centre " which was run by Nigel Wood in Maida Vale West London ( where are you now Nigel ? )

CSL No. 1 has since dissapeared, but it's thought it could now be in the US and re painted Silver. However, does any one know of any CSLs or have any recollections of them in Australia ?
Classic Throttle Shop have a Chamonix white one for sale at the moment and a Taiga Green one was on E bay in 2010. Any info much appreciated.

^^ That's an incredible car. Wow. I did see someone in Melbourne post one on Instagram recently, will see if I can dig the details out.

There was a uk restored fake CSL that turned up in Australia about two years ago. Fake chassis plate and other bits. Was spotted by someone on Pistonheads or similar and removed from sale by a dealer.
I always suspected it would pop up again once the row died down though.

I tried to find the thread discussing it (not sure if it was PH) but couldn't sadly.

Anyhow, buy very carefully because there is a 'ringer' floating around out there.

I remember the thread, didn't realise it was the same type of car.
Anyway think I found the thread.

Hello. This is quite a few years later , but I bought the No1 of 500 BMW 3.0CSL-Ceylon Gold- in 1982 and held it for 15 years. I sold it at a Shannons Auction in 1997. I believe it is still in Australia but not positive about that.
