I'm resurrecting this thread simply because it was getting too quiet in here until yesterday - almost a month with no posts!
Ute is proving to be noisy, fun, and not really very practical at all. Current daily is a red Commodore RSV wagon, which replaced a white Commodore RSV wagon.
Have got itchy feet and find myself browsing Carsale, Gumtree and Ebay quite a bit.
SWMBO wants one of these...
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas

Nice one on resurrecting the thread -literally a few days ago I was wondering how everyone was going as it's been very quiet on here.
Good to see you still rolling through Holdens finest I quite like the new Commodore but it'll never be good enough hey.
That 2cv looks like a lot fun and bet it's a lovely little thing just to have as a little collectible.
I've now done 15k kms in my Astra RSV and I have to say I'm really enjoying it and it's a great little car. It is definitely not as well regarded as it deserves and so far it's proving a good but. Pokey as well and costs nothing to run for the performance - averages 6.3l/100km over the last 15k kms and just had my first service which was $229 so dirt cheap.
Wife currently runs a 2011 Murano and seriously considering selling and changing for one of these
The Murano costs $800 to insure, this costs $250
The Murano costs $4000 a year to fuel, this costs $1750
The Murano is due $1400 in tyres, this will cost $600
The Murano costs $500 to service, this costs $300
Seems worth it to save nearly $4k a year.
Yes long time no see, a bit like my cars really.
Going through my stuff last night I realised I've had the S2000 Honda for 7 years. It's tyres are now just over 5 years old & due for replacement, although they have dome only 6000 kilometres.
The TR7s tyres have just a few more kilometres on them, & are also about due too. The TR8 is worse as we are still finishing a lengthy conversion from auto to manual on it.
I really can't justify having so many cars I no longer use. I wonder what an immaculate, 45000 kilometre 2001 Honda S2000 is worth. I bought the thing for long distance cruising, & just don't do much of that any more, so I might as well sell it to someone who would use it. Or is it like to start to increase in value as a classic, so worth hanging onto.
Meanwhile Merry Christmas to all, & a happy new years driving.

For anybody following my Australian adventures (read, no one) I purchased a 1992 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.0 the other day. 315,000km!
Still jobless (why do people take an eternity to respond to applications?)
Summer definitely here in WA, steady 37 yesterday. Feels strange to a Brit.. have a good one my fellow expats!

General consensus is S2000 will only go up in value.Going through my stuff last night I realised I've had the S2000 Honda for 7 years. It's tyres are now just over 5 years old & due for replacement, although they have dome only 6000 kilometres.

Things have been a bit busy this year, but the 928 got sorted and is now (still) waiting for a proper run - time, time, time...
Still have the Golf GTI and Liberty GT. The VW is likely to be a one-off at Chez PB - its not much fun really for what it cost, and I have this nagging feeling with it that its just waiting to nick my wallet. The Sube, on the other hand, is great. Seriously, I do not know what I could replace it with that is as capable, fun and reliable. Yes, its a bit thirsty, and yes, it has a face only a mother could love. But so few decent, fun, swift mid/large wagons available with manual box and Jap reliability.
We've just got back from the Snowies - took both cars so we could carry all kit and kids. Great fun place, and so many of the roads that way are enjoyable, was good to stretch the Lib. Have agreement in principle to return, taking the 928, the mtb and a tent. Sometime before it gets cold again, I reckon.
Elsewhere, for the past 3 years I've been part of the team putting this project together - and the contract was let by the Govt last week. Its been a big bit of work, and whilst it has its detractors, as a feat of engineering, it should not be dismissed...

Might take a break from motorways for a bit.
Hope everyone has a fantastic break, and watch out for those hidden rozzers!!
I missed a barn find MGB recently, low km’s mechanically sound, a bit of surface rust on the paint but would have been a reasonable resto, went for $2k!
Bought a 2002 Subaru Forester for my son who just turned 16, that needs a little mechanical work but wasn’t too bad at $1,200, hardly vintage/interesting though!

I'm alive.
Got shot of my Sydney job (thank god) and am now working for a Council near Newcastle in management. Got a brand new VW Passat 132 Comfortline wagon as part of the package, came with all options so is a pretty nice car to drive. Bit slow, but pretty decent.
Sold my Skoda VRS estate as a result. First person to look at it bought it, for $500 under the asking price.
Have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid as my partner now has her license to that works well for her.
In the market for something interesting. Just not sure what yet.
Sold our townhouse and bought a lovely house with a pool near Maitland, move date end of March.

I'm selling my car at the moment. Can I ask what platform you used to sell it?Got shot of my Sydney job (thank god) and am now working for a Council near Newcastle in management. Thanks
I just sold my wifes Nissan Murano via Carsales, as were my previous 2 car sales.
I did put it on Gumtree as well, but....
Gumtree is just a bunch of st enquiries, timewasters, low ballers and unfortunately stereotype reinforces.
Carsales was slower but more productive with real enquiries.
If you look at Gumtree it has a lot of cheap cars in bad condition. Carsales is more as you would expect.

Quite like the Passat - has a presence not many cars in the bracket have.
Good luck, sounds like you're in a good place in life
