Averaging 11.4/100 at the moment. It shuts half the engine down at cruise.

Mind you, I am taking it easy for the first 1000k’s...

That’s very good for what it is hey.

Probably what, 14-15 once you drive it normally?

Hopefully lower, we all know the opportunity to drive it like we stole it is rare here, so it should remain pretty good overall.

Even at 110kmh it’s only on about 1500rpm, the 8 speed auto is really good.

Good thanks mate, have a few thousand K’s under its belt now and all good.

Averaging around 10L/100km, no issues so far except the fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars don’t like the wet! smile

Still makes me smile every time I drive it.

10l/100 is incredible! You must be driving it too softly wink

Its a car you cant help but respect even if its not your thing.

How does its performance compare to your past cars?

It’s as quick as any I’ve had, even the supercharged VXR8, that was always let down by the auto gearbox, it struggled with the power even though it was remapped, you couldn’t just floor it.

The SRT has an 8 speed ZF which is a delight, in sport mode changes are super quick.

It’s also bloody loud! Both my VXR8’s were loud with the Wortec systems but for a standard exhaust the SRT is really loud.

I flew out to Canberra yesterday and left my car with the valet parking in Sydney, they started it up as I was walking away and I thought, st that sounds so good! Forgot to put it in valet mode though!

Cylinder deactivation makes a huge difference.

I'd get 10 out of a 6 litre VF (which had it) whereas the 6.2s (which didn't) were up at 13, and that was 90% freeway with the cruise on!

Yeah, the VE SS I had in Perth when I first emigrated would do around 13/100, that was pre-deactivation model, pretty much the same as the FJ Cruiser I later went too, although in a run I’d get in to the 11’s.

Looks awesome, congrats.

These are a great value proposition in Oz.

It's not quite worked out for me yet, when looking for a new car, but one day I will get one.
Still on the radar for me.

Although I might end up with the Grand Cherokee SRT with the same engine as a compromise, as the wife will be able to drive it.

I had a V8 SS as well, but she said it was too big.

At normal/low speeds in auto, does it feel like a 'normal' car? It's only when you floor it, all hell breaks loose?

I like the Grand Cherokee, especially in white but there’s a big difference in price over the 300 and I couldn’t really justify the extra.

Yep, at low speeds it’s all pretty normal, if you keep it in auto setting it sits in street mode and gear changes, suspension and steering are great, switch it to sport though and even at lower speeds it livens up a bit! Track mode is just a little too harsh for the majority of our roads. Not sure if it’s similar with the GC.

I couldn’t recommend it enough, if you want stupidly fast, big with plenty of tech at a reasonable cost, there’s very little out there to match it.
