Geely To Take Control of Lotus

The headline is all Volvos to be electric from 2021. Actually that should be all NEW volvos.
Anyway, I do hope this doesn't mean that Geely will be pushing for Lotus to use Volvo engines. Don't think the new Elise would benefit much fromm lugging all the extra batteries and motors around.

Their IC engines are very good and so I can see Lotus using them and, in time, hybrid tech which will be interesting as it will go against the 'added lightness' thing' but the world is heading towards hybrids and then full EV. Unless Lotus can find some lightweight batteries of course...

I would buy an electric evora if it had the performance and range of my current Evora S, likewise with a hybrid
If only somebody would start an electric car business using the chassis of a handy Lotus...Andy Allenton said:

Check out Speed Academy Electric Evora on Youtube. OK, it's not an official Lotus, but far from a shoddy ill-thought DIY build.
Yeah, it's really exciting! I really hope Lotus are watching this with a pair of keen eyes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt4fGIoVMpM
Could this be the catalyst for a proper electric sports car? Could Lotus be the OEM to do it? It's going to be tough with the Williams/JLR and Renault/Nissan relationships, the latter already in EV production.

Which was the basis for the Nissan Emerg-E

It just occurred to me that normal EV cars will be pretty much as fast as the fastest sporting EVs. No more ultra high performance only for supercars.
We've had that erosion for some time now - you can get a hot hatchback quite cheap that will match the 'performance' of a proper sports car. The difference is how it handles once you get it up to speed.Gassing Station | General Lotus Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
