I don't think this site can differentiate between a 1966 Mustang fastback and a 67 coupe can it?
It ight tell you how amny 635CSis were registered but can it tel you of which year of manufacture? In which case ... no good - maybe for that model of BMs it is okay cos they're all the same
For all of you interested in data for specific years, I've just updated the website. If you go to the page for a specific make model (eg: Mustang GT), you'll now also get a breakdown of all cars on the road in 2010 by year of registration.

I suspect it's listed under 'Other British', along with loads of other very interesting stuff -- the oldest cars in that category are from 1900, and apparently one of those is taxed and tested!Unfortunately it all relies on data entered by the DVLA, so there's always going to be inaccuracies due to the monkeys keying in the data in Swansea. For example, a lot of marques have a 'missing' model category containing thousands of cars - no doubt due to someone who can't be bothered to fill in all the boxes!

It's not too hard to believe that there are 15 cars either written off, not declared, sold abroad, converted to track cars, stolen etc., to explain the missing cars.

The GT was a specific option on a coupe, fastback or convertible ... and it says there are 2 for 1966 - which is plainly wrong - I know of loads!
If I put in coupe or fastback it shows nothing and I STILL can't get to see how many 1966 Ford Mustangs (coupe, fastback, convertible etc) there are currently registered ...

Put simply, it's what the DVLA thinks the car is, and the numbers are how many of that model were first registered in that year. If they were imported from the states, then I believe they'll be listed under the year they were imported, rather than their year of manufacture...That's all the information that the DfT has chosen to release so far, so I'm afraid I can't make it any more accurate for you.

IMPO it's a decent effort - one step on from simply having data available in a very large Excel doc. Some of the entries may appear to be inaccurate; usually this is down to a significant number of cars listed within 'Other' or 'Unknown'. You may recall Top Gear did an 'endangered cars' feature recently - whilst the data in that was as accurate as possible, if you interpret it to the letter, it claims there's only one Maserati Mistral on the road in the UK (which is evidently not true).Breadvan73 said:

I'd guess that's fairly accurate. I've only ever seen three others - one at Goodwood FoS on display, one on the way to Le Mans a few years ago and one on my local high st. in SW London.
