I have this Sellers Masterpiece on DVD somewhere, but did any one else see it last night. ?
Sellers was a Big Petrol Head and i like to think that if he were still alive , he would be posting on here re his many Car Escapades.

It was great seeing the many Character Actors it featured inc John Junkin , John Le Mesurier and the Stunning Nanette Newman,( What a Babe she was ) , but it featured some nice cars, inc an Early built, White Ferrari 250GTE ( reputedly Sellers own ) ariving at Battersea Fun Fair ) and also some fantastic film of Sellers own Aston DB5 ( 41 PRX , i think ) being thrashed to the limit.
Apparently he did all the driving for this chase scene. Any one know if it has survived ?

One of my favourite films as well ... 41 DPX is the Aston - red apparently nd belonged to Seller as you say. Do a search on google for locations for the film and you'll see it was filmed in Cowley Mill Road in Uxbridge (the bullion van scene) -

Lionel Jeffries steals it for me though ...

I remember reading somewhere that Peter Sellers never kept cars very long, and as such his passion cost him lots. Apparently Tony Crook (ex Bristol cars M.D.) sourced most of his purchases.

Thanks re all the replies. And Yes , it's Brilliant, it really is. One of his finest films maybe ?

They must have had such a laugh making it, BUT , How did they get any thing done with Nanette Newman around ?????
Sellers had sooo many cars , probably impossible to say exactly how many and which make and model. The Red E type Roadster ( NYK 1 E ) he bought Britt , was with one of the So Called Specialists some years ago, wonder if she ever regrets parting with it ? And his Lovely " Wicker Work " Cooper S he sold to Anthony Newley, who sold it to my Dads mate. I well remember standing next to it at Waltham Abbey Gun Club ( now the Swallow hotel ? ) circa 1969/70. He is trying to locate a photo if it for me.

Ime intrigued re that Aston and if it has survived.??

You should check out Two Way Stretch then if you enjoyed Wrong Arm ... I have a still from it on my garage wall.

Lionel and Bernard again accompany Sellers - and a lovely Liz Fraser takes the Nanette Newman *role*.

More footage of the lovely Nanette can be seen in League of Gentleman as well - another classic from Basil Dearden.

As for the Aston - it's only take one change of reg plate for the trail to be lost so who knows?

Anyone got the URL of the TfL Congestion Charge site where you can put the reg no. in and it'll tell you what car it is on?

There's two Astons. I think Sellers car was a DB4GT.

The one that goes flying has a different reg!!

But yes these films are pure genius and masterpieces. Lionel Jefferies is magnificent. Perhaps slightly rose tinted but who cares? The roads were sparce and you could do as you pleased within reason. I'm pretty sure belts, drink driving limits, mot's etc were a while off.

Not that I condone DD but represents a different carefree time. Prob could have picked up an ERA or Type 35 for 500 quid.

Nice 66 Fast Back ! And yes, will def check out 2 Way Stretch .

Re the Astons, didn't realise there were 2 different reg nos, i was arguing with Hissy ( she hates old films and wanted to watch some mundane modern rubish ) just as that one jumped the bridge.

Thinking about it, it did look DB4 GT ish, ( ie shorter ) wasn't the 4 a shorter wheelbase than the 5 ?

It's a few years ago now, but everyone who was posting on this thread about "The Wrong Arm of the Law" may be interested in this article featuring that very DB4GT (and the Wolseley 6/90) from Friday's Telegraph.
This article was written by the previous owner of my own Wolseley 6/90 Police car - watching this film is why he bought the car and why I bought it off him and got it going.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufactur...

in fact, Andrew Roberts had written a piece that mentions the chase back in 2017 in The Independent:
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/motoring/f...

That shows he's quite obsessed with the film. And I bought that car off him, which shows that I am, too.

Nice to hear from another WAotL fan!

That second link you posted just goes straight to the home pages of the paper ...

This link might work better ...

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/motoring/f...

I might give this a watch this week, come to think of it ....

The Aston was Sellers' own car. And you own the actual Wolseley from the film? Superb!

I see that piece mentions Merton Park Studios' Edgar Wallace series. Lots of info on Brit Movie about those including some great location threads ... Michael Caine with an Irish accent driving an immaculate Mk II Consul through south London somewhere ...

Two way stretch
Sellars masterpiece.
Made just before he made it big in the US

Two memorable lines.
An old screw is just about to retire and open a tobaconnist shop by the seaside
Sellars Quietly
"Lock up, is it ?"

Lionel Jeffries talking about opening the old quarry
Jeffries Loudly
"Six o'clock "

Forgot that I have a huge pic from Two Way Stretch in my garage! Got it done about 25 years ago! It's our heroes when they're at the station on the train and Lionel Jeffries is looking for Soapy ...

We had 2 Way Stretch shown at school (cine film) as an end of term treat in about 1970!
