Before after rebuilds

Not my own restoration, but one from a forum I visit through our hobby. An absolutely heroic effort, with virtually every part being hand fabricated by the chaps who restored her. Real craftsmanship at its best, taking the best part of 10 years to complete.

Epic job! Gladdens the heart to see these ancient machines restored to life again ....

Awesome; that must be pretty well unique? There can't be many other survivors anyway. Given the bits it's been recreated from I'm reminded of the surgeon joke where he takes a fart and rebuilds a human around it to create a lawyer.
Fantastic job.
Oh yes, the best bit is these guys finished it just in time for the London to Brighton run. Not sure I'd trust 90 year old engineering on such a trip but they made it. It's nice to see them being used rather than tucked away in a museum gathering dust forever.Fantastic job.
They even had to remanufacture the throttle quadrant etc themselves using the original rotten one as a pattern:

Fairthorpe Zeta? I found a wrecked TX in a scrapyard many years ago. Sadly I wasn't brave enough to rescue it.
Yes it is, i contacted the original owner who now lives in France and it is painted in the original colours, still have some engine work to do before i can take it for a blast.Did you take any pictures of the TX?.......Martin
What a brilliant thread, the capabilities of people on here and the wide range of machinery that has been rebuilt or restored and the standard of workmanship achieved is truly outstanding. It makes the rebuild of our completely rotten 1985 Mini look pretty average and that`s took 9 months so far!
