Classics dwarfed by moderns
Discussion
In my youth my dad had Ford Cortina's as some of his company cars, a Mk IV followed by a Mk V. In the day, late 70's through to mid 80's, the Cortina was one of the bigger cars out there. Until recently I had a colleague who used an old MKIV Cortina saloon as his daily driver. Even parked next to a Fiesta it looked a bit small now.
The most noticeable to me is the old MK2 Jaguar. I always considered these as large until I saw one a few months ago amongst the modern stuff.

Sorry I couldn't get a better shot, the woman with the MX5 looked a bit put out at me taking photos. Anyway, here is the famously oversized, often criticised for it's bulk XJS parked next to that famously minimalist sports car the MX5.
Photo doesn't show the extra metre of length at the front of the XJS mind you.

They look very comparable to me.
Yep, the XJS is clearly bigger, but not by much, and it's nowhere near as bulbous. It's the fact that a supposedly very small roadster is now comparable to a grand tourer that was relentlessly criticised for it's size that I found amusing.dme123 said:
