I suspect I'm doing this wrong but it looked so preposterous I couldn't not. And the Espada is a good four years older than the A110. Ahem. Anyway, it made me smile

Not massively dwarfing the original W201 but also worth a thought what the once mighty mercedes badge is now sadly producing frown

I wondered the same thing but as this is about modern cars dwarfing classics (and that doesn't) I didn't bother asking hehe

have you driven one lately? my neighbour chucked his one in after 6 months. he took me for a ride in it as i didn't believe him and it reminded me of a cheap, thrown together new build estate house. ducks quack, you feed them......

Getting a ride back on a recovery truck a couple of years ago with my old Peugeot and I asked the driver what he picks up most, he told me that modern Mercs beat all the other make combined. He was quite a Merc fan as well, but he said he wouldn't touch one with the proverbial barge pole.

Am AMG Merc cabrio ( I don’t know which one, as new cars get an attention span of about one second...) parked next to my 98 XJR yesterday, and dwarfed it 😳

It did sound like a healthy V8.
I’d rather have my lovely Old Jaaaag though.

I bet your Old Jaaaag was longer than the Merc and probably wider too. You need to go a long way to find anything which isn't as tall as your XJ though. The Jag also looks smaller as it's so svelte and just makes many other things look like Mr Bolby. I wish they'd have put the cabrio version of the XJ into production instead of it being a one off show car. A convertible XJR would be something even more special.

I've spotted a XJS on my way home a couple of times over the past couple of weeks, damn near everything around it seemed to dwarfs it's dainty proportions (barring length). I overtook it once and the difference in seating height! It'd probably be on par with an Elise or at least felt like it anyway, and my XK isn't the highest seating of cars either.

Hartlepool is a damned strange place, a great deal of poverty with the odd pricey motor (Conti GT's largely) but there seems to be a thriving classic car base in and around the area as well, TR4/TR6's, the usual smattering of MGB's, Audi 80 (though I think this one is run by an old chap, probably from new), the aforementioned XJS and a, largely, rust free Cavalier (in white, I spotted a bit of the brown stuff on a rear wheel arch).

I used to work for the Guy who owned (or still owns?) Hartlepool Marina.
No shortage of cash there!
Brand new Bentley’s Ferrari’s And Lambo’s every year....
But he actually lives in Yarm, where the mums pick up their little darlings from school in the Range Rover Sport.
