They are quite snug on the inside. I've yet to master the art of thanking another driver for letting me out without hitting the windscreen. As it happens, people seem to love the old Jag so the inside of my glass needs fingerprints cleaned off rather frequently rofl
I keep doing that when driving my Marcos - glad it's not just me! biggrin

I think this is a good shot to show that the dimensions alone don't tell the full story.

Even if the length and width are similar (as suggested above) the modern car has so much extra metal below the window line, and chunky pillars, it seems twice the size.

Interestingly, according to the Google a 131 and a modern 595 both weight similar amounts, around 1000-1100kgs.
That's why I cant park anymore. Whatever the size differences, I love those 131s. Imagine parking one of them?

Spotted this on the TR register forum. I appreciate it’s a bit further away but nevertheless it is not that far!

Easy to spot it’s a fake. The real one is left hand drive.

That ancient Fiat (500) is possibly a bit of fun.......

but ANY 131 must be a hoot to drive, especially that glorious Abarth. Never seen one in that blue. Sublime!

Classic dwarfed by a classic…

Not many things can make a W126 SEL look small…

And for those that think the Merc is parked further back…

The thing I love with these old US cars is they're an absolute monument to inefficiency, the W126 almost certainly has more interior space and a larger boot volume (which is quite something, as even the W126 boot isn't as large as you'd expect from the exterior dimensions).

The Lincoln doesn't even give you the joy of an engine bay you could have a picnic in without removing the engine first, because they decided to fit a fan shroud the length of a Fiat 500. Presumably "packaging" was for communists.

Spitfire -
Width 57"
Height 48" (roof up)

F-350 - Width 105" (inc. mirrors)
Height 79"

The F-350s there with bigger wheels and tyres might be taller than standard ones, the wide arches aren't standard

I have never seen the attraction of those massive pick ups or the like.

I suppose are equivalent in size is the traditional transit open back. smile

Over the years I have known two guys in England who have bought American pick ups and to be honest with you, both were knobs!

That's shocking.

It doesn't take much imagination to picture the likely consequence of a head-on collision.

Or any form of collision.

You are probably right, too harsh!.

I should’ve said, “had a vague sense of what fits down our roads”.

I find them quite repulsive, reek of everything that is wrong with the US of A. Consumerism gone mad, don't give a toss about the planet, biggest is best. As you say, complete knobs.

I got into a heated discussion on twitter about these. The forward and rear visibility on them is awful. You could have a four foot tall child standing in front of them and you literally cannot see them from the cab. About 50 children a year are killed by being run over by vehicles at low speed. Apparently this is fine and as a driver you should always be aware of your surroundings and if you think that is a problem you shouldn't be driving. They are a bloody menace on the roads.

They are also utterly useless load beds as they are so damn high up you would struggle to lift anything heavy into them.
