I don't "get" 60's or 70's Jap cars....nothing personally meant by that....they just don't float the boat???

I'd forgive it the number plates, it was still a wonderful car.
I will have a word with my mate who owns the car about the plates.

Don't see many about of those about now, I've certainly not seen one for a while.

I must admit to wondering what it had fixed to the roof till I realised it's a bloke carrying a gas bottle on his shoulder. biggrin

260Z or 911? I'm with strela on that one. The Datsun every time although perhaps for different reasons.

To me the 60's & 70's Jap cars have an honesty about them which is inspiring. The 'special' models are a pastiche of unashamed plagiarism.

I imagine a little crew of Datsun Engineers and Designers locked in with a Scimitar SE4, A Fiat 130 Coupe, Lancia Fulvia and Fiat 132 to produce that Silvia! Even the dash looks to have a bit of Aston in it. Tell me that doesn't work by time line - but it OUGHT to be true.

I'm "quite" into JDM-only cars, so I'd probably go for a 240/260Z too.

I nobody minds, I'll post some more pics of classics we saw back then:
964 at Tatsumi . This was pretty much our go-to place during our trip, a highway parking lot at night... biggrin

I've never visited Japan and I've always been intrigued by the motoring culture over there. Perhaps it's not that different to Europe, it just seems so.
Ooh, it really is different, rest assured.biggrin
The younger guys mod their cars in the strangest ways ( see link below or google "Itasha cars" ), but nobody will make fun of someone else's car.

The owner of the Martini 964 (track-spec, full slicks,..) was happily chatting to the guy with the Citroen C2, showing intrest in eachothers cars. Can't speak for English car meets, but I don't see that happening in Belgium.

British Car Auctions at Blackbushe. Not the ideal way of selling a tired classic in my opinion. They have prestige car auctions but they tend to be newish cars. This should be in Bonhams or somewhere similar I'd have thought.

Ah, it was an assumption on my part. It's been there for several days and hasn't moved so I'm guessing it will be in an auction. Some of the more offbeat cars do hang around for a while. Maybe they do have a classic sale occasionally; I should have checked. If it's still there next week I'll ask.

I was disappointed not to see three SUs.

Not an expert though.

Off Topic: there was a story going round on Friday about a dealer who normally buys rag-end cars at £200 or £300 bigging it up in the prestige auction with some mates. He was bidding on a modern Rolls Royce. The auctioneer recognised him and asked him several times if he was sure. He was and helped the bidding up to £100,000 with him as top bid.
"Going once. Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Going twice. Sure?"
"Yes."
"Sold! One hundred thousand pounds!"
Whereupon our hero legged it from the hall. He was intercepted, reminded of his obligations and had it pointed out that if he defaulted he would be banned. He confessed he couldn't pay. The car went round again, was bid up to £92,000 and he was presented with a bill for the difference - £8,000.
