Everyone associates Porsche with petrol engines and nothing else, so going diesel was a big thing for Porsche. Probably also a reminder to new owners not to fill it with petrol.

They are indeed.

Used to be a flawless vivid metallic gold, mild kustom '49 Caddy Series 62 Sedanette knocking around the show circuit in the 2000's, but not seen it in ages.

My mate lives down that road and I have passed that car many times. I do love an SL.
