Ha ha, we are obviously at the opposite ends of spectrum, had Renault 4, 2CV and have a Morris Minor currently, (along with other slow cars like Austin 7s which you would also probably despise.)Plenty of others disagree though when you see the numbers if moggy thou's in attendance at Classic car shows
BTW Morris Minors don't have king pins, they have trunions.

Without wanting to open up this whole "what is a classic" thing again, it occurred to me the other day that to become a proper classic a car must have been desirable in some aspirational capacity when it was a current model. For example, a Stag was a genuinely desirable car when it was new, even though the flaws were well known from early on. But I doubt anyone ever thought "When I've made a few bob I'll treat myself to a Marina."

But there might have been somebody working on the factory floor who saw the salesmen tooling about in their Marinas and, for him, they may well have been aspirational.Different people have different ambitions.

Good point. We had a Bedford HA van, in which my brother and I sat on old cushions, or a tool box. Any type of car was aspirational to me. :-(Different people have different ambitions.

My opinion is that in order to be a classic, a car must be
1 - old.
2 - not plug ugly.
3 - not a pig to drive.
This however is just my opinion and if others wish to differ, then that's fine.
(As long as they don't expect me to drive the things. Or look at them.)
Never driven a Ford Model T then? 1... well, yeah they're pretty old now. 2...hideously ugly, like a Victorian bedstead crashed into a load of abandoned pallets holding prams. 3...utterly hateful in every regard with random pedals controlling strange gear arrangements, no brakes of any merit at all and a ride like a ship in high seas.1 - old.
2 - not plug ugly.
3 - not a pig to drive.

Nahhhh, not a classic in any way really It's only the car that invented... well, the car... and the second most selling vehicle in history. Poor old Henry, but I guess one out of three ain't bad
