Ford Model T... It's only the car that invented... well, the car...
Really?Or perhaps your particular spectrum of pedantry runs more to discussing whether Fred Lanchester ought to take credit... after all, his vision relied on a car designed from first principles, rather than an adapted horse carriage forced to fit around an internal combustion propulsion source? Oh, that's a good case too

I wasn't looking for an argument; I was asking for clarificaton.

Blimey, I'm sorry I said anything now!
It was meant a bit tongue-in-cheek But now you mention it... I should have known better than to read the Donald Trump thread before posting somewhere sensible. I think I might have caught a dose of PHitisNik da Greek said:
Never driven a Ford Model T then? 1... well, yeah they're pretty old now. 2...hideously ugly, like a Victorian bedstead crashed into a load of abandoned pallets holding prams. 3...utterly hateful in every regard with random pedals controlling strange gear arrangements, no brakes of any merit at all and a ride like a ship in high seas.
Nahhhh, not a classic in any way really It's only the car that invented... well, the car... and the second most selling vehicle in history. Poor old Henry, but I guess one out of three ain't bad
To be honest I'm not sure if I could identify a Model T if I saw it. Nahhhh, not a classic in any way really It's only the car that invented... well, the car... and the second most selling vehicle in history. Poor old Henry, but I guess one out of three ain't bad
Hmmm. In much the same way as all herring are fish but not all fish are herring, maybe all vintage are classics but not all classics are vintage?
It depends on where you are in the world anyway, I believe to Americans they're all classics but they make the distinction for "fine" or "distinctive" automobiles according to CCCA guidelines. Then complicate matters further with "brass" cars and suchlike . I think the UK definiton is all of them are classic, but subdivided into veteran, vintage and ....ahhhhm, everything else. Vulgar modern post 1930 tat "Historic vehicle" throws another spanner in by basically alleging everything more than 40 years old is classic or significant. Yep, even Morris Marinas
As always, happy to be corrected. Or for a definitive definition of what constitues "classic" to be provided. Because I don't believe there is any such cast-iron definition.... which was kinda the point

Aren't they all just old cars?
This is the spotted thread, there are loads talking about what is a classic, (usually a new one about once a month.) Maybe this conversation should continue in one of those?
Yes. Sorry. Blame Nik.This is the spotted thread, there are loads talking about what is a classic, (usually a new one about once a month.) Maybe this conversation should continue in one of those?
but I still blame Evangelion's three-point law
By way of atonement, have a humpty-backed Aprilia with Beetle lights
