COOL CLASSIC CAR SPOTTERS POST!!! Vol 2
Discussion
No pictures I am afraid, 'cos it all happened so fast. An early exploit on our caravanning adventure saw us North bound on the M5 in Devon.
Southbound we spotted a Moggy convertible in that 'million' lilac colour, plus a Triumph 2000 MK1 in Cactus with a black roof and a white MKII towing what looked like a humongous caravan. Previously in Brixham, an XK140 in cream on (i think) Dutch plates.
Now back at home, spotted a red Elan 2+2 and a 60's Alfa Gulietta, Gorgeously understated in grey.

Jeez, when did you last spot a 1980 Vauxhall Carlton (on original Serck font plates) on your travels? This old shed looked like a daily driver and from the outside, it looked like the dirt and overspray was all the that was holding the rust together. However a quick MOT check shows that it hasn't had so much as an advisory in 10 years! My money is on a friendly inspector....

There wasn't a 635 CSa as far as I remember. The original line up of the E24 included the carb fed 630CS - but the 635 were all injected and hence "CSI".
I don't wish to muddy the waters under the thin ice I'm on but weren't early auto models badged with an a for automatic after the model deets? ie 628CS a

I've always thought the lines of an Alpine were so clean and unfussy. Much under-rated over the years, esp pricewise. Coming into their own now I think, finally. I remember going to see a black one for sale in about 1985. Rotten as a pear in the sills and floor area. I walked away - I wasn't paying £80 for that ...
Typical. Two very different cars spotted, one I had my phone, the other I didn't. This outside the IOM motor museum:
What a wonderfully '70's colour
Then last night stood at Ramsey hairpin admiring the sunset while out with the dog a red Dino popped & farted it's way past. What an utterly beautiful thing!
And what a crap time not to have a camera

Would that be a Golf R complete with scouse house music on full blast and launch control away from every vineyard?
Natch. It'd blow grandpa's XKE into the weeds, and think of all the cases of Bacardi Breezers you could fit in it! DickyC said:

Oh yes. 2.5 straight six in 2500; fuel injected in the 2.5PI and TR6. I'd question the SU carbs. My memory is telling me Strombergs.Pretty sure that green is also not an original colour for a Mk2 2000/2500...??
Parked outside the Motorist Discount Centre in Newbury last week. A Riley with, I'm guessing, a special body. The owner was either stone deaf or particularly disinclined to talk. Olympic levels of brusque. Normally chaps will respond with a grunt if they don't want to speak about their cars but this guy was in a league of his own.
