what ever the maroon one is it has a huge overhang/boot.
Yeah, that's puzzle for me as well, its clearly a large car for the era looking at the size relationship to whats parked next to it, plus the long chrome wrap around bumper, which points to a pre-mid 70's car, as almost all makes had gone over to the black bumper/plastic coated style by the early 80's, and which for that reason excludes the Tagaro shown above, and a Volvo 240 as well.Speed 3 said:

Isn't the maroon land yacht an XJ saloon?
That was my thinking, definitely a towel on the back window confusing things somewhat. I can't think of anything other than yank whcih would have had a proportionately long boot.Speed 3 said:

The De Tomaso suggestion, while close, did get me trying to trawl around other obscure European types though trying to find something that fits.
Having previously introduced the Fiat 128 proposition for the blue car I've changed my mind to Zastafa Yugo now. Good spot Dapster!
But that red car... I just don't see it as a Jag somehow. Yes, there's a towel on the rear pillar but I can see a curved rear screen visible beyond that so the projection of the boot is not as bizarrely long as it appears. I previously supported the Tagora idea but no, it still looks like a Vauxhall to me. Viscount I'd say.

Exactly, as I pointed out in an earlier post discounting a XJ.

Yes, apologies. I spotted your post later when I was reading back. It's also not a yank tank either.

Vauxhall Ventora? Wheelarch and bumper look right, as does the enormous rear overhang.
Is that the same as a Victor?
That's the one Rick. Initially I was thinking the FE series cars known as 'Transcontinental' in their day, which was early seventies. Victor/Ventora.
Then I thought, perhaps the earlier model which has an even bigger overhang. I called it Viscount but I think that's just a tarty name for the last Cresta in the previous series which ran up to '72. Let's get our friend 'sorted' to do a computer rendition of it!

Mystery green car?
Hmmmn 2 door Audi 80 B2 in Inari Silver? Could be but that Cortina looks huge by comparison and I'm not convinced by the depth of the boot lid edge and rear lights.
I thought it was a Datsun Sunny B11 saloon but there is clear bodywork between the bumper and wheelarch which means it's not the mystery car.
And I love the idea that someone purring about in a 300SEL 6.3 would be in Cleethorpes! Perhaps to push the corpse over the end of the pier, but probably not on holiday.
