I think it's a Volvo 240 saloon. Bumper looks right, rear three quarter window, wheels, position of rear door handles.

Is the large maroon thing a Volvo 244 with a cloth / sun flare distorting the rear?
Exactly my thought.Dapster said:

Exactly my thought. No photos unfortunately but on a little jaunt down to see the graves of Sir Winston Churchill in Bladon and Brian Jones in Cheltenham, we spotted a VW based Beach Buggy, a drop head TR7, a Morris Minor (with one of those period exterior sunvisors) and on the way back a Citroen SM just outside Warwick.
White Triumph Stag (with hood up) heading through Abergele and Towyn on Wednesday afternoon.
Spotted also what must've been a rare sight of a silver/greyish 1950s Aston Martin DB2 or DB3 coupe between Llandudno and Rhos on Sea. Had that distinctive Aston Martin large grill and a long back. Looking at photos of the various series it looked like either a MK1 or MK2 judging by the squarer grill.

No photos as I was driving when I saw them, but I spotted two BMW 2002 saloons at different times in Hereford today. A metallic green saloon parked up in Whitecross Road this morning, and a stunning looking white saloon driving down Belmont Road this evening. Both early round rear light cars.
